New to investing? Words to know
Everything on this page in plain words. The full manual is how it works.
- Earnings report
- Every 3 months a company publishes how much it sold and earned. That's what we score.
- Score (0-100)
- An AI reads each earnings report and grades it: 90+ is excellent, under 70 is weak.
- Trend
- Are the last 4 reports better than the 4 before them? Positive means the company is improving.
- Grade (A-F)
- Is the price fair for how fast the company grows? A is a bargain, F is very expensive.
- Guidance
- The company's own forecast for the next months. "Lowered" is a warning sign.
- Rating
- One number from 0 to 1 that mixes score, trend, grade and the 1-year gain. Higher gets bought first.
- Box
- One spot in your bot for one stock. More boxes means smaller amounts spread over more stocks.
- Sector
- The industry a company belongs to. There are 11, like Technology, Energy or Healthcare.
- Diversification
- Spreading your money over many stocks and sectors, so one bad area can't sink your whole bot. "Max per sector %" does this for you.
- Fresh report
- An earnings report that came out since the last market close. Some bots only buy then.
- Hook (trailing stop)
- If a stock falls this far below its best price since you bought it, sell it. Protects gains.
- S&P 500
- The 500 biggest US companies together, the usual measure of "the market". Beating it is the goal.
- Paper trading
- Practice with pretend money. No real money is ever involved.
